The way we work
El Consulado is not a regular store, it’s a space for objects with memory. Like the old consulates, it acts as a gentle threshold between the local and the faraway, a meeting point for stories, crafts, and cultures. Every piece whether a glazed vase, an old bowl, or a linen tablecloth is made by hand in small workshops, using traditional techniques that are still alive in corners of the Mediterranean.
There’s no rush here, no trend-chasing, just lasting objects, chosen with care, like someone browsing a personal archive or flipping through the pages of an old book.

Hello! This is Alexandra, the individual behind "El Consulado". I travel around Spain and the Mediterranean looking for unique and traditional artisans.
Every piece we offer comes from someone we know, their story, their workshop, their rhythm. That’s why we say our objects have a name and a surname.
They are not just things:they are the result of time, skill, and a way of life we want to keep alive.
We work directly with artisans to ensure fair pay and a respectful, transparent process. Everything here is made slowly, our artisans work at their own rhythm, and we honour that. There’s no rush when it comes to craftsmanship.
